There is no problem without a solution. Working together we could find a way around this, if Dreams doesn't let his pride kill this shard.

Dev Dreams, please consider other possibilities.
There must be other options.
The easiest of which, I would think, is paying for the service of hosting the server.
I'm telling you, no matter the cost, we will come up with the money. We are mostly adults here and make good money.
Please rethink this decision. It most likely doesn't have to go down this way.

Yea i understand if this is a issue that you just dont wanna deal with to a extent but i mean to just give up without a fight to this dirty lowdown rotten motherfucker pardon my launguage is beyond my level of comprihension i would do whatever it took to keep my server open. 3 WEEKS COME ON DREAMS i mean you have had like at least 10 people donate to you and you arent even gonna try. If this is a money issue at all then there are 10 + people willing to spend money they go out and work for to play this server and you wont even try?
This is the silliest thing i ever heard of of its like letting the terrorsts win and as an american it does not sit right with me.
If you give me acess to the files ill find a developer who will fix the problem with the core if possible and pay to host the server professinaly not outa my moms basement or whatever you are doing.
At least give it a shot dreams please i really love your shard and you have butt fucked us twice now give us that love this game the chance to make this work.

I'd love to contribute to keep shard on, but this was never been about this particular issue, shard was running ok. The problem was about some idiots behaviour, which makes any effort useless. I wish I could do more. Farewell my fellas.

Guys. stop to say farewell or so. we are not weakness lol. i dont like how is Dreams to giving up be honest. i am sure that he had very strong mind. he shouldn't give up. why? a lot people love your games. why you should give up for only ddos? Many company and shard or private servers have many same problem but they dont give up.. just they need to finding to fixed.
look at to people who wanted help to you and they dont care to pay good server and special anti ddos or DDoS Protection.
i stll believe in Dream as dev and also believe in Zuluhotel Dreams as Script. they r prefect and very fun.
we shouldn't give up. i understand that Dreams had very busy life and no feeling to fixed for big one.

Can't believe some of you are actually trying to blame Dreams, poor effort. Clearly some still don't understand the tradeoffs of running a dedicated server for UO.
We should all know the risks involved in playing POL servers by now, this was not the first time this has happened.
Anyways, everyone has their right to speak their mind and vent. But, I would try to give Dreams more motivation rather that shit on his parade. It also sucks for a Developer to see his shard of 250+ players die out because of this - so give him a break - it's not his fault.
Regardless, It was great to be back after 10 years, and great to see so many familiar faces. The shard was promising, 80%+ old school players. Elite guild wasn't active for several years until now and we managed to bring back a considerable amount of players - my three weeks of full-on macroing was worth it already. Even managed to PK a few 'noobs' - don't take this personally, it is what it is.
Thank you to all Staff: Dreams, Nagash, Elthin, Grark and Noah. Job well done, thank you for believing again.

I do understand dreams decision, he doesn't have much spare time and the attacker is keeping him way to busy, so much that it interferes with his personal life. There hasn't been a day that he has come home from work and be able to relax, so i completely understand his decision. BUT i also think "we" are giving up too early, there should be a solution to this problem, i haven't been around much and don't know the situation fully, but i would be ready to whatever it takes to help dreams keep this server up, and it appears that alot of players are willing to make that happen aswell. I will try to talk to dreams to not give up just yet and see what happens from there. Keep up the positive feedback and help, that will certainly help dreams to not give up just yet.

Nobody is blaming Dreams for what happened, but that doesn't mean we support his decision to give up. There's 20+ players here that are all offering money to find a solution so that we can continue to play. Why? Because we all love this game. It's almost a 20 year old game, but we all came flocking back at the chance to play it again. There's never been another game that can make your heartbeat go from 60bpm to 140bpm so quickly, just because another player comes on screen when you're out hunting. We love this game. We love Zulu Hotel. We understand this may be the last chance we have to play on such a well scripted shard, and will not go down without a fight. If anything I, or anyone else, has said comes across as derogatory, I assure you that wasn't the intent. At this point, we're speaking emotionally, because we feel helpless. This decision is up to Dreams, and Dreams alone, and none of us want to see our dream die. To quote Will Smith from the movie Independence Day... ""We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive!" |

I'm not sure if you are talking to me but i wasnt trying to blame dreams im sure he has a full time job and doesnt want to deal with this on his time off. I on the other hand would bankrupt myself to make sure this guy never attacks me or mine again so i what i dont understand is him giving up without a fight as far as we can see.

I truly believe the real reason behind this decision is not the unsolvable nature of the problem but rather the frustration and headache that it has caused Dev Dreams.
Unfortunately, it is in the nature of this game that problems will happen. And I am not talking about the technical problems that happen with faulty scripts. I am talking about people who decide, willingly, to take action in directly ruining the gameplay for others.
However, I am also extremely confident that the only way to deal with this sort of issue is to not let it get to you. Because in the end, there will always be another asshole causing you problems. If you let it affect you, you have already lost.
You NEED to shrug it off. (Dev Dreams)
Particularly if the culprit is a manchild, with a little extra time on their hands.
This sort of thing goes away quickly.
Of course I am not advocating that we do not pursue a solution to the actual problem of DDoS, Sockstressing, whatever it is.
What I am suggesting is that at the same time we do that, we also try and not show anger and frustration. Instead we view it as a challenge.
Do not give in to this childish instigation. Problems will present themselves. And we WILL overcome them.
At least that is what I like to believe.
