Is a Bard any good

I was reading about changes to thief and bards etc, but there are no good bards as it seems.

so are bards any good?


For instance in ZHS when you create a character with Musicianschip you would get a newbeefied music instrument, that would help to hunt as bard with provocation etc,
Here bards don't have any way to get to lvl 5 hythloth with there own skills.

Bards are a unique class. Once they get a songbook, they're amazing. Prior to that, they are a good support class for group hunting, and are very good at clearing trash mobs, but not really capable of hunting higher level mobs by themselves. Many people avoid them due to their dependency on a songbook to be good, but I know there are at least two spec 3 bards on the server. No songbooks have been found at this time, though, to my knowledge, so they're basically just macroing up until they can become gods when they manage to get a book.

The playstyle isn't for everyone. I've played a bard on a few shards in the past, and loved it personally, but I enjoy the more "support" focused role that they can fill very well. It's not for everyone, but those that enjoy it love the class. Those who don't, end up hating it. If you don't enjoy it, my recommendation would be to trade off the songbook for something to make one of your other toons better, and play what you enjoy more.

I played a bard, almost exclusively, last time the shard was up. Had a full book, legendary bard items, and was able to provo / peace legendary bosses. As far as solo play, Bards are shithouse. In a group, however, they're amazing AoE hiding and what not. They seem to be insanely good at group hunting. Only managed to get into one group PvP altercation with my Bard, which unfortunately did not end well, because most of the group scattered instead of standing to fight. >_> But that's a story for another time.

i've been doing some hunting with the songbook, unfortunatly most mobs are imume to all there spells
simple mobs like a tempest is imume,
also bigger mobs are imume to it like golden dragon. let aloone a boss mob.
also provocation and peacemaking at 120 skill won't even work on most drakes let alone dragons etc.

hope de Dev can take a look at it. it realy looks like bard even with an impossible to get songbook with scrolls is still useless.
group hunting is also not tru for the bard. heal is not AOE here and all spell will kill teammates.

add to that it uses mana what a bard doesn't have. can only do 2 spells before i need a pot that will be on cooldown 24/7.

You should read the features of the shard clash, if you are in the same party your offensive spells won't hit the people you are hunting with.

hah ok i did and i did try to go into battle.
lvl 4 bard vs inferno wisp for instance. i can cast 2 spells before i gotta run an heal. and then the wisp heals itself, was unable to kill it.
What is a spec 4 bard worth with a song book ? sry man but if this keeps up i see no point in playing a bard.
remember you can't bless mana because the songbook was written for dex so it has a dex boost in it.

i got only 90 mana as spec 4 bard. and an attack spell costs around 30-35.

i hope you can do a compare between a lvl 4 ranger with good bow  lvl 4 mage with ebookand a lvl 4 bard with songbook. and see how worthless a bard is in comparison.

just spawn for instance an inferno wisp and see who can kill it and who can't.


i realy am about to give up on bard if i can't get this working.
